| CONSUMER INFORMATION University of Arizona research concluded:
- Telephones and Computers are contaminated with up to
25,123 germs per square inch.
- Using disinfecting wipes will reduce germs and bacteria
by up to 99.9%.
- Telephones have 500 times more bacteria than the average
toilet seat.
In research by Professor Charles Gerba from University
of Arizona, 7000 samples of items taken from typical offices
throughout the United States were analysed.
The highest form of germ contamination areas were found
to be Telephones, Desktops and Keyboards. Microbiological
population included:
- E.coli,
- Klebsiella pnemonia,
- Streptococcus,
- Salmonella, and,
- Staphyloccus aureus (staph)

- Air New Zealand identified a 52% improvement in sick days
lost after the introduction of a telephone/computer hygiene
service.

- Sanford Microbiology Laboratory tests showed "the
number of bacteria present on the mouth and earpieces ranged
between 70 and 1400" and after the hygiene service; "It
was found that bacteria had been completely eliminated.
The telephone was very effectively sanitised, thus removing
any potentially dangerous organisms from the handset".
- "Static electricity can wreak havoc on the insides
of your computer. While there is little power behind
the shocks, the thousands of volts contained in these
sparks
can jolt the sensitive electronic components sometimes
causing permanent damage."
